Bobux Winter Style Guide: On-Point Colour Trends

Winter is all about the coziness. It’s a fun season to dress your kids up in the cutest, trendiest little outfits. We quizzed three of our favourite Mama Fashionistas to give us their best tips and advice for kids’ fashion styling this winter to create the Bobux Winter Style Guide 2017.

Colour is being brought back to Winter as trends veer away from the subdued colours of seasons past. With the skies looking bleaker, there’s all the more reason to give your little one’s wardrobe a contemporary update.

Following the style-leadership of the global fashion stage, Phoebe Montague, editor of the Melbourne-based fashion website Lady Melbourne, predicts rust, ink and dusty yellow to be popular colour-ways this season: “These are in fashion because of what we've seen internationally on the catwalks, but also because of what we're seeing coming out of European kidswear brands for their A/W 17 offering.”

Autumnal, earthy shades are ever-popular during the colder months, but it’s the bright and pretty that catches the eye of Kylie Fraser, the stylish mum behind Australian blog, Love Little Big: “I’m thinking we will see a lot of khaki, grey, navy and red/maroon. But if you ask me, PINK is always on trend for little girls.”

Whether you have little lads or lasses running around, pink works well with more subtle colour-ways to brighten up a wintery outfit. Chloe Grant, owner of Australian kids fashion label Mrs Millah, is embracing a tastefully on-trend palette this season: “olive, blush pink tones (and I'm not just talking for the girls), tan, and, of course, mustard.”

Earthy shades are a no-brainer in cooler weather. They give every outfit a cosy, bundled-up look with toned-down sophistication - but don’t be afraid to add a pop of colour to your kid’s wardrobe! Metallic shimmers and royal blues make a bold statement against subtler tones, and colour-clashing has never been more on-trend - so get experimenting!
